    I have been staying with relatives for 3 weeks at a time twice a year and worked my way into refined gear and processes. First and foremost I do use lightweight synthetic clothes and layer for warmth in winter. Second I only carry 3 sets of clothes and wash every night so I am packing extremely minimalistic. Third, I use pouches for all toiletries and laundry soap and I have calculated at home how many days I can get out of each size pouch (30, 50, 100ml). I only bring enough for the trip and come home empty. A Tide sink pouch is 5ml of soap. Extrapolate that to how many laundries you will have to do. 100ml = 20 sinks of wash. MOST IMPORTANTLY I always fill the sink with water first, then add the soap and mix it before putting in clothing. This ensures full contact of a uniform mix of water and soap with clothes. I have also found that the longer I keep the clothes in contact with the soap, the cleaner it gets so sometimes I leave it overnight. Smells fresher, even lifts tough stains.

    As an owner and user of this pack for about a year and a half, I can attest the the accuracy of this review. It’s a great pack and the positives and negatives in the review are spot on. Overall I love the pack. Tucking the shoulder straps can be a pain, and the sternum strap can come loose, so make sure to secure it before stowing the shoulder straps.

    I just bought the Osprey Porter 46 and would like to see a video with all the other travel packs with how they connect on the front, what that looks like, size, etc. Thinking if I need to over pack my Porter, I can over flow to a smaller travel pack to reduce the size of the Porter for my flight but have no clue which travel packs would work the best. hope you can help and thanks for doing such a great job on all your videos!!!

    You mentioned that if you had to put bag in sizer, it would probably not pass as a personal item. Airplane space is so tight as it is. I would not want to put a 28 liter pack under the seat. Only a last resort. Does the 35l look so much larger? I would get the 35 L and not pack it so much. Maybe add a small sling for your personal item. What do you think?

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels 3 дні тому

      35L doesn't look that much bigger. You can take a personal item and put it in the overhead, not a big deal except if its full then they may ask you to put your bag under the seat.

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels 4 дні тому

      The dimensions are similar, Tortuga is a little wider, but AER is a little deeper. I'd guess the Tortuga 40 can hold more than the TP3. The Tortuga is a much simpler pack, big main compartment and not a ton of other organization or pockets that take up space. For as much as I love AER packs, they have a lot of organization and pockets that eat up room meaning you get less actual volume inside the pack than a bag with similar dimensions.

    I looove my super bagel, as a techy who usually travels with lots of gadgets it’s a real lifesaver. An underrated aspect of it is the fact that since it uses an extension cord, the plug is much less likely to slip out of a well-worn wall socket. The way the power strip elegantly packages with the tiny plug adapter is also *chefs kiss* 🤌🏻🤌🏻 Great review, and thanks for highlighting an awesome product!

      Good point, they're the same! I just liked it so much I got 2 😄

      @@OneBagTravels I see. Did you know there are 15 different socket configurations worldwide - but most all of them will accommodate either the flat-prong US plug or the round-prong EU plug> In other words, with just US (type A) and EU (type C) plugs - you have 192 of the world's 197 countries wall sockets covered! And if you add Aus (type I) - that raises the total to 196 covered! The ONLY country with its own truly unique and non-compatible socket is South Africa. And to my knowledge, because of its uniqueness, None of the so-called "universal" plug adapters is good there - you have to buy a separate, dedicated plug adapter! Good thing I've already visited S.A. - so no worries for me. 😁 I quite like the bagel's center adapter - and would even buy one if the price was a lot lower. As for the ring, I don't think I would have any use for it. My appliances all have USA plugs - so I really don't have anything to utilize the ring's international sockets. Do you? And as you mentioned, the USB slots on the ring are pretty underpowered.

      @@CryingCroc. Interesting, I found some countries for example Argentina use Type C and Type I, but inreality most of the places I stayed at had both, so you could have gotten away with just having the EU type C plug like you said. The international ring adapters on the bagel I think would only be useful in a mixed group travel situation, but it also works if you juse have a lot of US plugs. I haven't found that part as useful, but I usually travel in small groups and we don't need that many plugs.

    Absolutely amazing. I was really wondering whether to get the farpoint 40 + a daypack or the farpoint 55. Great to see that going the route of the 40 + a daypack is a waste of money unless you have a very niche need for a daypack with features that the includes one doesn't offer

    How did you find the traffic/driving over there? Do people drive like lunatics?

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels 9 днів тому

      Not really, we rented a car in Quepos so I didn't have to deal with traffic in San Jose. Generally roads are in good condition, they have highways but a lot of the roads are steep and windy. If anything you tend to get stuck behind trucks and end up going slow.

    Hello OneBagTravels. Many thanks for all the time you've invested in producing the content. Super helpful!!! After quite a bit of time trying to select a bag that will allow me to use it as a personal item when traveling on EasyJet in EU, I've narrowed it down to either Thule Aion 28L or Evergoods CTB26... I like the CTB26 as it has two water bottle pockets, is a very functional design, has great reviews and seems like it will sneak in as a personal item if not crammed to the gills. Similarly, I like the Thule Aion 28 as it also looks to sneak in as personal item, has good organization, one water bottle pocket, but does have a 'wet' area section which could be useful if you worry about shampoo getting out or something. I'm about 189cms and wonder if you have any further insights that might help me make a decision? Additionally, I was able to try the osprey sojourn Porter 30 and really wanted to keep it, but it was not tall enough for the hip belt to work properly. Many thanks!!!

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels 6 днів тому

      I'm not that tall but I'm not sure height will make as much of a difference with those 2 bags. Your height really matters when you're using a hip belt as it will sit differently on people of different heights. Neigher of those bags have a hip belt, so I don't see why they would really sit differently because they just have shoulder straps.

    Thanks for your review, you have a way with praising a pack's features without necessarily overselling it. Very trustworthy. I agree with the commenter who wanted an admin section. I feel like I'd want to sew some extra webbing and straps into this pack once I got it. And I know it's supposed to be "minimalist" but a front stretch pouch never hurt anyone!

    Best review I have seen on GR2! Question does that mean the GR2 34L would not be allowed as a carry on? Looks like carry on will be accepted now. But under the seat it will not fit. Per these rules… Including wheels and handles, carry-on bags must not exceed 22" L (55.88 cm) x 14" W (35.56 cm) x 9" H (22.86 cm). Under the seat: Personal items must not exceed 17" L (43.2 cm) x 13" W (33 cm) x 8" H (20.32 cm).

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels 12 днів тому

      Yeah the 34L is within those dimensions so should work fine.
